The following strategy is one of the easiest, "hands-off" and FREE ways to generate traffic day in and day out - and it's ultra targeted to any given social network...

It's MySpace.com

MySpace currently has over 80 million users, and it claims to add close to 250,000 new members daily. It's basically becoming a "mini internet" of its own.

It used to be mainly just teenagers, bands and artists that used MySpace, but now it's just about everyone.

You can find practically any imaginable niche on MySpace, and it actually shows you which ones are the "hottest" to target (something to consider when you choose which market you should build your social network for...)

The "Groups" Section on MySpace - though not exactly as active as it could be - literally shows you exactly which topics and niches are HOT - and which ones aren't.

For example, "Muscle Cars" and related subjects would be a guaranteed hot ticket for a social network, because MySpace.com already has literally hundreds of thousands of people that are interested in "muscle cars" in the Groups section alone.

This is how you can easily determine what's "hot" and what's "not" on Myspace.com: The size and activity of the Groups section...

Now, if you want to know roughly how many individuals in your niche exist on MySpace, what you can do is actually run a keyword search on Google for the main keywords that make up your niche, by searching with this format:

"niche keywords" site:myspace.com

Google will display all of the pages that it indexes that contains the keyword, which will show you roughly how many people in your market are reachable through MySpace.com...

Okay - so now you now how to find your market on MySpace.com - but how do you reach them and build your own social network without hardly lifting a finger?

This is how it works...

There are two primary ways to build traffic on MySpace:

1. Create a Profile, grow your network of "friends", and then use the "Bulletin" and "Comments" features to broadcast your messages to your friends.

2. Create a Group, and invite people to join it. The more popular your group, the higher it's displayed on the Groups categories page on MySpace.

I would recommend that you do both. Remember that MySpace is built on a viral platform in every sense - just like PhpFox - and your efforts on MySpace in terms of generating traffic will continue to "snowball" - creating a literal non-stop wave of targeted traffic for as long as MySpace exists...

Also, keep in mind that your friend's sites will display a link to your profile in their "friends" area, and if you leave a comment on their page (and comments can be in HTML), then it will literally leverage all of their traffic as well.

The bulletins feature is almost like sending an opt-in email, and you can send out several a day to all of your friends - within reason, of course.

Now the idea with both creating a profile and a group is to direct traffic to your own social network. For example, check out what "CarCommunities.com" is doing with their group and their profile.

The sole purpose of both the profile AND the group page is to serve as a gateway to their actual social network.

They even have banners that visitors can copy/paste onto their sites, blogs and profiles. This is how to use MySpace.com to create a massive tidal surge of traffic to your social network.

So - How is This "Hands Off" - Don't I Have to Add a Bunch of Friends Manually?

This is where the strategy becomes a little time-sensitive, well, likely...

MySpace forbids using scripts to grow your friend-base or otherwise communicate on MySpace.com.

However, there actually is a program that doesn't violate MySpace's TOS (yet), and it's called "Adder Robot".
